Looking For Interested Fisherpeople --

Over my years as President of our Club, I have seen that fishing is a big part of the activities at the Club.  This being the case, the officers want to do whatever possible to enhance the fishing environment of the lake for our fishing members.  One of the biggest complaint received is about that “Darned *!$*!$@%! grass  getting in the way.”

An early effort.
Ok, in order to have more fun fishing, let’s start by removing some of the ‘grass’ clogging the water. This has been tried several times on a small scale.  It was effective.  Take a look at the Club’s Blog titled “An Experiment” dated 20August2016.   Also see, "More Progress --- It's a 2'fer".

Along this line, the club has a tool designed to remove the grass.  It needs to be taken out (away from the shore) into the water, dropped in the water, and drug back to shore. Pictured is Issac using the grass cutter.

It can be piled up on the shore and then hauled away.  The last time, Scotty Wagner helped with the disposal.  Sorry, there is no easy fix…. It will take a group effort, and it will require little bit of maintenance depending on how fast regrowth occurs.

If these efforts show significant results, the Club could invest in stocking fish to further improve the fishing in the lake.  Keep in mind, though, purchasing Grass Carp to manage the weeds will also take a group effort.  It is not just as simple as ‘buying a few fish and throwing them in the lake’.  There is a permit application, and if approved, the fish will need to be purchased and then transported here.  Beyond the initial purchase of fish, their transport would increase expenses or it would require volunteers involving time and effort.

If anyone is interested in this type of project, add a “Comment” on this Post or contact one of the Club Officers ……….

We'll see how things go -- the Club may be able to arrange for a snack after some hard work ........
