Use Your Voice ....

The anti-gunners are out in full force in Pennsylvania.
-
Our legislators need to hear our voices, if we expect to keep our 2nd Amendment rights.
-
I am not telling what to do or think in this matter, BUT I AM asking you to 'think'!  Decide what you want our state (and country)  to be.
-
There are a lot of 2nd Amendment issues in the works, both state and federal.  I recommend that you check out the NRA Alerts as well as the Gun Owners of America (GOA) Alerts.  I understand that it takes time to keep updated on these issues, but it is your rights at risk -- 'use them or loose them' as they say.
-
The nice thing is that NRA and GOA have 'sign ups' for Alerts that make it easier to know what's going on.  You just need to go the respective site and sign up in order to receive the Alerts.
-
I have listed links below if you decided to get involved with your 2nd Amendment rights.
-
And--- Thanks to all who already do!!

New Target

Check out the new steel target at 100 yards.  btw --- the steel is the target, the wooden structure is NOT to be used for hanging targets.
-
This is a rather thick piece of steel , but mind you it is only mild steel and will likely not hold up under a steady diet of large calibre jacketed bullets.
-
It was installed specifically for using cast lead bullets.  Its large size servers nicely for off-hand shooting.
-
It worked well on its maiden voyage.  Even the 45-70 cast bullets did not damage it.
-
Be safe and have fun .....

Looking Within Ourselves To Solve Problems ----

The Club is in a bind with regards to getting keys for the gate.  Our supplier recently notified us that they will no longer supply us with keys.
-
We are working on a stop-gap remedy for the rest of this year, but plans need to be developed for the future.  As always, we are trying to minimize membership costs.
-
I am asking for help in this matter ------
-
--------------- Are there any members who can make keys??
-
--------------- Alternatively, does anyone have a key-making machine not being used??
-
--------------- Last, the Club could make a purchase ..... (approx $180)

-
Let me hear from you.

Looking For Interested Fisherpeople --

Over my years as President of our Club, I have seen that fishing is a big part of the activities at the Club.  This being the case, the officers want to do whatever possible to enhance the fishing environment of the lake for our fishing members.  One of the biggest complaint received is about that “Darned *!$*!$@%! grass  getting in the way.”

An early effort.
Ok, in order to have more fun fishing, let’s start by removing some of the ‘grass’ clogging the water. This has been tried several times on a small scale.  It was effective.  Take a look at the Club’s Blog titled “An Experiment” dated 20August2016.   Also see, "More Progress --- It's a 2'fer".

-
Grass cutter being towed out.

-
Along this line, the club has a tool designed to remove the grass.  It needs to be taken out (away from the shore) into the water, dropped in the water, and drug back to shore. Pictured is Issac using the grass cutter.
-
It can be piled up on the shore and then hauled away.  The last time, Scotty Wagner helped with the disposal.  Sorry, there is no easy fix…. It will take a group effort, and it will require little bit of maintenance depending on how fast regrowth occurs.
-
If these efforts show significant results, the Club could invest in stocking fish to further improve the fishing in the lake.  Keep in mind, though, purchasing Grass Carp to manage the weeds will also take a group effort.  It is not just as simple as ‘buying a few fish and throwing them in the lake’.  There is a permit application, and if approved, the fish will need to be purchased and then transported here.  Beyond the initial purchase of fish, their transport would increase expenses or it would require volunteers involving time and effort.
-

-
If anyone is interested in this type of project, add a “Comment” on this Post or contact one of the Club Officers ……….
-
We'll see how things go -- the Club may be able to arrange for a snack after some hard work ........
