February Meeting Coming Up ...

Another month has gone by and the FEBRUARY Meeting is coming up (Thursday - 9FEB2017).
-
There has not been a lot of snow and access to the Club has been uninterrupted.  Hope you have been able to make use of Club.

This is just a reminder of the Meeting this Thursday with a request to "bring a friend".

The Agenda is to continue the planning for 2017.  The previous Post lists some of the ideas that are on the table.  Hopefully, details for a couple of them will be filled in at this meeting.

The Meeting will be held at 7:30 PM in the Vo-Ag Room at tha Berlin Middle School.  Come on in and share your ideas..... !

Committee Chairs were appointed by the President at the January Meeting.

All Committees were asked to come up with a plan for 2017.  A discussion was held on what items need addressed in order to improve the Club for its members.  The following are a few of the ideas that were put on the table.

-

----- 1) Fish stocking

----- 2) Snapping turtle reduction

----- 3) Stain for pavilions (3) and ?? Clubhouse

----- 4) Repair roof on tool shed

----- 5) Repair overflow screens on breastworks of dam

----- 6) Add "structures" to lake for habitat improvement

----- 7) Place new duck boxes ( which we already have)

----- 8)      ?????

#8 is for "you" to fill in.  The Club will only go as far as the members are willing to take it.  Come on, get involved.  Find something you are interested in, and let's do it!  Please feel free to bring your idea (s) to a Meeting, call a Club Officer, or contact one of the Chairs.......

Not all defensive shooting scenarios are going to take place in broad daylight--- good preparation requires practice in all conditions ----- 

Funny, it doesn't do that in daylight..

Just A Reminder ....

The January meeting is this Thursday (12Jan2017).

Just wanted to remind everyone that the meeting will be held at the Berlin Brothersvalley Middle School in the Vocational Agriculture Room.  Enter the door next to the greenhouse.  The meeting is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM.

The weather outlook for Thursday is not bad.  However, we all know (and love) Somerset Co. weather changes.....  So, our rule of thumb is that if school is canceled, our meeting is canceled.

Just wanted everyone on the same page.

Along with our regular monthly business, Committee Chairs will be appointed for 2017.  Keeping with that topic, we will also try to develop an outline for projects in 2017.  Some ideas are already being discussed, and they will be further refined.  It is hoped that at least one idea will be initiated for each committee.  In this way, we will keep the Club moving forward.

SUMMARY-- Decemeber Meeting

Main business of the evening was to elect officers for 2017.  This was done and the results are listed below.....
-         
List of 2017 officers was here, but is throwing a glitch.  Therefore, let it be known that the 2017 Officers are the same as last year
-
It was also decided to make a major effort to improve the fishing opportunities for 2017.  Plans are currently being developed for a three-pronged approach.  This includes;
-

 1) Turtle Control (snapping)

2) Catfish Reduction            

3) Fish Stocking

As stated, plans for each of these are just being started.  If anyone has any input now would be the time to get involved.  It is hoped to have a definitive plan completed so that as the weather clears in the spring the Club will be ready to implement.  Now is the time to do the research and development, so please feel free to join in on the planning.  Come to a meeting, leave comments on this Post, send an email, or give us a call (814)267-5651.

The task is big and we are few, so any help will be appreciated.  It is all for the greater good.

December, 2016 Meeting

A special note to let everyone know that the election of Club Officers for 2017 will be conducted at our December Meeting.  Some nominations were made last meeting and the nominations will be re-opened for final nominations before the election is conducted.
-
Other business will be to develop plans for 2017.  What would you like to see happen with your Club?
-
Do come to the meeting and contribute your ideas.... it is the only way the Club can continue to meet your needs.
-
We will meet this Thursday (8DEC2016) in the Clubhouse @ 7:30 PM.  In the event of inclement weather a sign will be placed on the main gate to indicate a move to the Berlin Middle School in the Vo-Ag Room.

2016 Winding Down

The approaching Holiday Season reminds us that the year 2016 is coming to an end.  I would like to wish all our members a joyous holiday season!

It is at this time of the year that our Club begins to re-organize for the coming new year (2017).  In keeping with the by-laws of the Club, nominations for 2017 officers was opened at the 10NOV Meeting.  The first order of business at the December Meeting will be to accept final nominations and then conduct the vote to determine the officers for 2017.  The new President will appoint 'Chairs' for the various committees at the January Meeting.
-
Please attend and take part in the process.  The only way the Club can move forward is for members to be involved.  As a "Members Only" Club, we, the members, must get the job done.
